David is a registered Personal Trainer in Beautiful British Columbia. He knows first-hand the hard work and dedication required to turn your life around, change your habits, and reach your goals. David started working in the computer industry and found himself living the couch potato life and feeling the physical effects: chronic back pain, asthma, lack of energy & overall fatigue. After moving to Vancouver in the heart of Kitsilano, it became hard for David to ignore the benefits physical activity and proper nutrition could offer him, like it had for the community around him. He became highly motivated, set out for a change and in 9 short months, he ended up competing in the mens physique competition in 2014.
David knew that to achieve his goal to helping as many people as possible he had to go big. He founded TurnFit Personal Trainers LTD and started hiring trainers who not only knew a great deal about health and fitness but more so people who truly care deeply about helping others become the best version of themselves, both mentally and physically. David always looks at personality first when hiring teammates. Everyone knows you can train skill but you can’t out train a bad personality.
Whether your goal is to tone up, lose weight, or train for a competition such as Body Building, Bikini Model, Iron Man or Miss Universe, TurnFit Personal Trainers LTD will support and motivate you to reach farther and train harder than you ever thought possible. David’s Story
As far back as I can remember which is grade one I was bullied. I was bullied in many different ways throughout most of my childhood. These are some things that stick out that have an impact on how I treat people. Grade one I was beat up for being slightly chunky and then made fun of for crying. I have always been an emotional creature. I remember I was made fun of many times for showing emotion such as feeling sad or crying. One of the earliest times was when my Mom came in for show and tell in grade one. She was showing my pet cat to the class. Once my Mom and cat where leaving I became sad and started to tear up. After that I was called “cry baby, mommas boy”… This was only the start of things. Then From grade two to six, I was put in special reading classes because I could not keep up with the class level. I was called “Odd ball, stupid, slow…” I now know it was my dyslexia that gave me problems. I only discovered this when I was 22 years old. Grades three to eight, I was very overweight! So much so that I had a very large chest that looked like big breast. I was called “titty man, a word for a female dog tit or hey I can’t tell are you a girl or a boy”.
To make things worse I had a group of “friends” who stayed in the same classes from kindergarten to grade 6 and they always made sure I knew I was the loser of the group. By calling me “Fat ass, pussy, bitch tits, odd ball” giving me purple nerples, Indian burns, pink bellies, face washed with icy snow, tripped, punched, pushed into walls, called poor because I didn’t wear “name brand” clothes. No matter what the event was I was always picked last or close to last if it was for a team exercise. This reinforced the idea that I was not good enough. In class I was always so scared to read out loud as I would have to read extremely slow just so my brain could properly process the words. Grade seven to twelve; I was then the computer nerd. I choose to stay away from sports and physical activities, in fact I would hate on them because the people in the sports would be the bullies to me. When I was 19 I moved away to another province and slowly started to reinvent myself. I finally had a fresh start! To this day I constantly improve myself mentally and physically. I teach these skills to all my clients, as I believe you need not only a healthy body but you need a healthy mind. I created TurnFit, as I am truly passionate about helping others succeed. I want to see strong and successful people, as I know what it feels like to be weak and hopeless. At TurnFit you are not just our client, you are a friend. Good friends are always there for you and will help build you up stronger. Friend’s will also call you out on your shit and we will to if your not trying to improve, haha.
