On-Site Executive Training: 9 Months (and Counting) at a Richmond Biotech Lab

A biological laboratory company in Richmond has had a TurnFit coach on-site for nine months, and the program is still running. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the coach trains all 10 executives in the company’s workplace gym. They train two at a time in back-to-back 48-minute sessions across a four-hour day. It began as a one-month contract.

How a training day works

On each training day, the TurnFit coach arrives at the lab for a four-hour block. Executives come down in pairs for 48-minute sessions, one pair after another. Five sessions fill the four hours, so all 10 executives train every Monday, Wednesday and Friday without anyone leaving the building.

Each executive follows an individual program built around their goals, training history and any injuries. They share their session time with a colleague.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, when the coach isn’t on-site, the executives can chat with their coach. Questions get answered and problems get dealt with before the next session, so training carries on all week.

Why 2-on-1 works for an executive team

  • Everyone fits in one block. Pairs let one coach see 10 people in four hours, three days a week.
  • Built-in accountability. Your session partner is expecting you, which makes it harder to skip.
  • Still personal. With only two people, the coach can correct form, adjust loads and change the plan for each person in every session.
  • Predictable time away. Forty-eight minutes, at the same time on the same days, fits around a lab and meeting schedule.

How it grew: one month, then three, then ongoing

The company didn’t start with a long commitment. It signed a one-month contract to try the program on its real schedule. That became a three-month contract. Since then, it has been extended repeatedly because the executives love it. Nine months in, the program is still running on the same Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule.

We start most corporate programs the same way: a short initial contract that lets your team try it, then extensions once it’s clearly working.

Why it has lasted

  • Fixed days, fixed slots. Monday/Wednesday/Friday never changes, so executives plan their weeks around it.
  • The coach comes to them. Training happens in the company’s own gym. There’s no commute and no extra membership.
  • Efficient by design. Back-to-back 2-on-1 sessions cover the whole leadership team in one four-hour block.
  • Support between visits. Off-day chat with the coach keeps everyone on track between sessions.
  • Low-risk start. A one-month first contract meant the company only extended once it was sure.

What this means for your company

If your company has a gym or a spare room and a leadership team that never finds time to train, this model is built for you. We run the same on-site structure for employers across Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver, from executive teams like this one to much larger groups. At a Burnaby oil refinery, for example, we designed programs for more than 150 staff alongside a nurse and a dietitian.
