Are Personal Trainers A Waste of Money? That is the question that many people ask themselves when considering whether or not to hire a Personal Trainer. In this video, we’re going to go over and see if the trainer you find is a waste of your money.
Number one: is your personal trainer, creating programs for you to do on your own time as well as when you meet with them. If they don’t provide homework, they could be a waste of money.
Number two: are they holding you accountable to your goals? This is a huge one! So if your trainer isn’t holding you accountable to our homework and goals; maybe their nutrition; then they could be a waste of money because that’s what you’re paying for. It’s accountability.
Are they there for you on the days, when you’re actually not training with them? Can you reach out to them and ask for support or when they noticed that you’re doing your homework, maybe they give you a thumbs up? Or a great job, some kind of incentive that you can see that they’re watching and tracking everything that you’re doing?
Are they there to help you with your nutrition, making sure that you’re logging the nutrition that’s going into your body so that you can perform the best for your session and for your homework and get to your goals?
Are they actually watching you properly in the gym, doing each movement are they educating you on how to do things and why to do things properly?
Do they pay attention to little things like how you’re walking, what your feet are doing? When you’re walking, when you’re squatting, when you’re jumping, when you’re running, it should be that they look at your total body posture, along with your goals is your trainer, being proactive, and maybe holding you back from the certain type of workouts that you would like to do so that they can get you the proper posture so that you have success for life, and stay injury-free.
These are just a few things that you want to think of when you’re looking to hire a personal trainer. So if you’re in the process of interviewing a trainer, or you already have a trainer, and you want to re-interview them, ask them a few questions, stand in front of them, and get them to point out all your muscle imbalances. A good trainer should be able to start from the toes all the way up to the top of the head and pick apart every single part of the body and say, Hey, you have flat feet. This is how you fix them.
When you’re squatting, where are your knees tracking? Where should they track over your toes?
The quick answer is, if your feet are straight forwards, your knees should line up over the second and third toe. If they’re collapsing inwards, there should be a problem or there is a problem. And you should have that trainer address it all the way up to the top of your head, they should be able to easily pick apart everything. If you want them to check how your walking patterns are, you should be able to get them to witness you’re walking towards them and away from them. And they will be able to pick apart every single imbalance that you may have.
Ask a lot of great questions like, Why are my feet doing this? Why are my hips doing this? Why am I having this shoulder pain? Why am I having this back pain? How should my sleeping patterns be? Ask them an abundance of questions.
Sometimes, the trainer might not know everything. A great trainer, if they don’t know something, they won’t make it up. They’ll say that’s interesting. Let me look this up. And I’ll get back to you. The problem occurs is if they just make up something, or if they say, I simply don’t know, and they’re not willing to look it up for you. These are just a few reasons why a personal trainer might be a waste of your time and money.
If they’re just there to just beat you up and stress your cardiovascular system, and they don’t know really anything that’s happening with your body. I would suggest you know what if you just need an accountability partner and that’s it and not and they’re not providing any knowledge or homework for you. Suggest just partnering up with a friend or family member. If they don’t want to go to the gym with you. Maybe just send them a calendar invite for the days and times that you promise yourself. You’re going to the gym so that you can promise them that you’re going to the gym as well and get them to phone you or text you right after when you should be working out and say hey, did you do that workout?
I often find that it’s very easy to break a promise to yourself. But if you promised someone else and they’re on the other line holding you accountable, that’s what counts. If you don’t have a friend or family member that can do that for you find a great online trainer that’s relatively cheap. Could Be Us could be somebody else. A good cheap trainer just for the accountability part. And semi-structured plan with that kind of communication could look like only $80 a month. He dollars a month to hold you accountable. And to give you guidance on how to move a little bit better and how to eat a little bit better is a huge win. So when you’re interviewing a trainer, if you need help, and you want more interview questions or tips or tricks, you can reach out to us and we’ll give you the best questions that we think we can have for you to interview the trainer that you deserve.
