Wanting to lose weight may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. There are small steps you can take to get you started, avoiding sugary drinks and foods, increasing your metabolism through resistance training, and getting a good night’s sleep. Starting small is the best way to begin your fitness journey, as drastically changing your lifestyle won’t last long. Here are a few other ways you can lose weight.

Cut the Carbohydrates

Many sources will tell you to cut all carbs from your diet, but that’s just not realistic or healthy. Instead of trying to cut them out entirely, lower your consumption of them entirely based on what’s best for your body and weight loss goals. There are apps and calculators all over the internet that can help you determine that specific number, or try hiring a personal trainer if you’re new to the fitness world.

Reducing your carbohydrate intake will reduce your hunger levels, resulting in you not consuming as many calories. This also allows your body to focus more so on feeding off your fat storage, instead of using the carbs you ate for a few hours ago, to produce energy.

Consume Proteins, Fats and Vegetables

Every meal should include the following if you want to lose weight effectively: a source of protein, fat and low-carb vegetable. Good protein sources include chicken, turkey, salmon, eggs, beans and other option depending on your dietary restrictions. Eating a lot of protein is one of the most important factors for weight loss. High protein diets can reduce cravings by 60%, reduce the desire for midnight snacking adventures, and make you feel more full throughout the day. This works particularly well if you eat a high protein breakfast.

Low-carb vegetables consist of broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, kale, cucumbers, lettuce and so much more. You’ll never be harshly restricted from eating foods if you implement these changes to your diet. Healthy fat sources are easy to throw into your meals as well, specifically when cooking with them. Using olive oil, avocado oil or butter are the best healthy fats to add to a meal. Healthy fats are nothing to be afraid of when trying to lose weight.

Try Weight Lifting

Becoming more popular as an everyday workout regimen, lifting weights allows you to burn a lot of calories while preventing your metabolism from slowing down. You’re able to lose a significant amount of body fat while also putting on a bit of muscle with this option. However, if you can’t handle the bodily stress of weight lifting, cardio workouts like running, swimming or high-intensity interval training are also good ways to work out towards your goal.
